How to keep bathroom mirror from fogging up

This is a neat trick to stop your bathroom mirror from fogging up when showering.

On a clean mirror apply shaving foam. Rub it on with your hands and then wipe off with a dry towel. Buffing out to a clean mirror again.

This prevents your bathroom mirror from fogging up  for 2 weeks. No more wiping the foggy mirror in your steamy bathroom when you get out of the shower. Re-apply when needed, usually between 2 - 3 weeks.

How to clean stove hood vent filter

Here's a quick handy tip to clean what becomes a greasy mess that we don't clean too often.

Ingredients:

 1/4 cup Borax

1/4 cup baking soda

Hot water

Scrubber sponge ( I used the one filled with dawn dish soap  * Pictured by  sink * handy tool to have for cleaning)

Fill sink with boiling hot water or boil a pot big enough to fit your filter in it. Add borax and baking soda . Stir up a little to mix without burning yourself. Next place filter in sink. This filter was too big to go all the way in sink so only half was covered. The part that stuck out I sprinkled a little more borax on it and gave it a quick scrub and then turned it around to place that side in the water to soak for a few minutes and repeat the scrub on other side. For heavier caked on grease just let it soak longer ( 10 mins ) . This  method surprisingly releases the grease from filter fairly easily . Rinse well and dry . Your filter just got it's shine back.

How to clean kitchen cabinets

This was a cabinet over the stove that gathered greasy splatters  quicker than the rest, but kitchen cabinets over time can build up a film of dust and grease as it is the most used room in the house.

Here's a gentle solution

Ingredients :

2 Tbsp dawn liquid dish soap

2 cups warm water

1 cup white vinegar

1/2 cup borax

(optional) lemon  essential oil

Mix them all together  and get to work using a micro fiber cloth or sponge. Once washed down ,wipe down with clean dry cloth to finish it.

Dawn cuts grease not only in the sink and is useful for many tasks.Vinegar is a multi surface cleaner that can cut through grease, shine surfaces, disinfect, deodorize and much more. Adding essential oils cuts the vinegar smell. Essential oils are naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial with freshening properties.

How to clean the microwave the easy way

This is a great way to clean the microwave without heavy scrubbing. They can become easily splattered  with heavy use .

Ingredients:

Microwave safe bowl with water

wooden tooth pick (cautionary step, if you have one)

(optional ) for this I used 1 tsp of vanilla extract ( for that I just baked cookies smell )

but you can add what ever you like , Lemon oil for that nice fresh scent or add some vinegar or  baking soda to remove strong odors from microwave.

Place bowl in microwave , the tooth pick is added as bubbles will form on the toothpick  letting it boil without exploding. Bubbles can't form on really smooth surfaces, which causes it to boil into an explosion when the bowl is suddenly moved. Set for 5 minutes, then once it's done let it sit in microwave for another five minutes. This lets steam loosen up the food particles. After this time remove bowl being careful as it will be extremely hot, use oven mitts. Using micro fiber cloth or sponge easily wipe away the now softened food splatter.
